Metaphysical telepathic travels: An interview with Andrzej Dudek-Dürer

Meetings

On December 16, 2024, we conducted an interview with Andrzej Dudek-Dürer in Wrocław. We discussed, among other topics, the books that played a significant role in his spiritual development. He mentioned authors such as Philip Kapleau, Jiddu Krishnamurti, and Sri Ramana Maharshi, noting that during the Polish People’s Republic, these books were often published on low-quality mimeographs, some of which were produced by Andrzej Urbanowicz and Urszula Broll. He explained that he had no desire to join the official movement founded by these artists, as he feared it might pose a threat to his own art. In the past, he even considered entering the seminary, but after a conversation with a priest, he decided against it. His approach also inspired other Wrocław residents, including Nyogen Nowak, an artist and Zen monk who now lives in Japan with his wife, Ewa Hadydoń.

* The title refers to the artist’s 1990 Metaphysical Telepathic Travel project.
